Factions are a group of persons organized for a particular purpose. A faction can contain smaller groups or cliques, existing as a subfaction. Factions usually have motivations and goals beyond simple existence. To grow, a faction needs to accomplish goals that are in line with their leadership’s purposes. Successful achievement of these goals helps the faction grow in strength and influence.

Factions can be divided into four types:

Major factions are present everywhere in some capacity. If they aren't physically present, they are still known of.
Greater factions are capable of spreading their influence potentially over entire worlds and are well known.
Lesser factions are smaller but may still have a multiplanar existence, though their range and power has limits.
Minor factions are relatively unknown and while they may still be capable of performing actions to their benefit, their focus is limited.
